Former Leeds United midfielder, Michael Brown, has given his view on the current managerial vacancy at Huddersfield Town.

The Terriers recently sacked Jan Siewert after the German had won just one game since taking over from David Wagner.

The torrid Premier League campaign that Huddersfield suffered last season has seemed to trickle over into the Championship, as the Terriers have lost four of their opening five matches and currently sit in the relegation zone.

Caretaker manager, Mark Hudson, has been in charge for two games but has failed to pick up a point. They lost at Cardiff in midweek before losing at home for the third time this season to José Gomes' Reading.

Huddersfield take on Luton this Saturday, with the Terriers looking for their first win of the new season.

Speaking on EFL Highlights on Quest, Michael Brown said: “Mark Hudson, wants the job himself and he wants to show them what he can do but they need to score goals, that is the problem that they have got. They need to improve very quickly.”

The Verdict

Huddersfield have had an awful time of late, but their fortunes must change soon. This next appointment is absolutely massive for the whole club. They cannot get it wrong and risk finding themselves in another relegation scrap this season.

Mark Hudson wouldn't be the correct appointment for me, maybe in a couple of years but not now. He doesn't have the relative experience to get the Terriers out of the mess that they're currently in.

Brown is spot on when he says they need to score goals. You won't go anywhere unless you're regularly finding the target. They do have the players on paper that should be able to create bucketsful for players such as Karl Ahearne-Grant but it's just not happening. It'll be interesting to see who the owner goes for.
