Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton has told Lincolnshire Live that he would like to sign two more players for the club before next week's deadline.

The Imps have already brought in seven new faces this summer and are seemingly keen to bring in a new striker as a matter of priority.

In addition to this, it is also said that the club are looking to bring in a new left back to supplement their defensive options moving forwards.

Now Appleton has outlined exactly what he wants to happen over the next few days as the transfer deadline draws closer and closer, as he stated the following recently:

"I'd like to improve the numbers in the squad by at least two. Whether that's bringing three in and one going out, I don’t know.

"I think we need at least a couple of bodies by Tuesday."

With just two days left until the window shuts until January, the Imps will certainly have to move fast to get their first choice targets in and over the line at Sincil Bank.

Meanwhile on the field of play, the Imps are set to be back in league action on 11th September away to Cambridge United.

The Verdict

Lincoln may well have left it late to get two players in but sometimes the best deals come about in the last moments of the transfer window.

A new striker is clearly high on their agenda, whilst a left back also appears to be in the pipeline at present.

It will be intriguing to see what calibre of player they get in, whilst there is also seemingly a possibility that one of their own could be sold.

Overall it is hard to criticise Lincoln's overall approach to recruitment and in the grand scheme of things Appleton has done well to have such good success with limited resources.
