Michael Appleton has been getting his side ready for the trip to Peterborough and he knows it will be a tough task.

Lincoln currently sit 11th in League One but have only picked up one win in their last six league outings, and that came last time out against now managerless Sunderland in 2-0 win at Sincil Bank.

The task for Appleton now will be to build on this win and take confidence from the Sunderland victory into Saturday's game away at Peterborough United.

Peterborough have been going well themselves so far this season and they find themselves in seventh place with only one league defeat since the 10th August, Darren Ferguson and his men will be hoping to carry on their rich vein of form when Lincoln visit.

Peterborough have got the two most potent strikers in the league as Mo Eisa and Ivan Toney both have nine goals each and find themselves at the top of the scoring charts.

Appleton and his side will be wary of the threat that Peterborough carry and speaking to the club website, he said, “It’s going to be tough,”

“They’re a very dangerous side, and there’s probably a lot of League One managers up and down the country that would love the kind of artillery that Peterborough have.

“They tend to go with a diamond in the middle of the park to try and free Maddison up behind the two strikers.

“If they go with anything different that is something we’ll have to prepare for on the day, but they back themselves to score lots of goals.

“It could potentially be a very good game of football.”

The Imps manager didn't discredit his side though and told the club website that they carry a threat of their own.

“We have some dangerous players ourselves, don’t forget,” he added.

“The key for us is to try and take their threat away and nullify the amount of balls that get into them three and finding them in dangerous positions.”

The Verdict

Lincoln and Appleton will be very wary of the threat that Peterborough carry but coming off the back of beating a side already in the play-offs like Sunderland, they should be full of confidence and excited about the game ahead.

Lincoln carry their own threat with the likes of Bruno Andrade and Tyler Walker and these players will be vital if Lincoln are to take anything away with them.
