Lincoln City manager Michael Appleton has confirmed that Bruno Andrade has been ruled out for up to twelve weeks with a hamstring injury.

The 26-year-old has been an important player for Lincoln so far this season and has made 24 appearances for the Imps in all competitions - scoring two goals and providing four assists.

The winger has been in good form recently, but he suffered an injury during the first half of the FA Cup replay against Ipswich Town last week and had to be taken off on a stretcher.

Scans have now revealed that the Andrade has torn his hamstring and Lincoln boss Appleton has confirmed that the player is set to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Speaking to Lincolnshire Live, the Imps boss admitted that he's disappointed for the player, as he's been in good form in recent weeks.

“It’s not great news. We don’t know 100 per cent, but it’s going to be somewhere in the region of eight to 12 weeks.

“He’s got a tear in a couple of places. It’s not straightforward. It’s disappointing for him because he was having a good spell. In the game the other night, before the game off, he was looking dangerous.

“It’s a blow for him and the team, but these are the things that happen in football. You’ve just got to roll with it.”

The Verdict

This is worrying news for Lincoln. Andrade has been an important player for the Imps so far this season and he's been in good form recently, so it's a major blow that the winger is set to spend the next few months on the sidelines.

The games come thick and fast this time of year, so the fact that he's going to miss the crucial Christmas period is definitely a concern for the Imps.

His absence from the team will give someone else a chance to impress, but Andrade will still be determined to make an impact when he returns to full fitness.
