Reading take on Rotherham this weekend, in what could go a long way in deciding where both teams finish in the Championship this season.

The Royals will head into this one as slight favourites, with Jose Gomes' side showing promising signs since he took over as Paul Clement's successor.

But they suffered a real wake-up call as they were convincingly beaten 4-0 by Sheffield United last weekend, as the Blades challenge for promotion this season.

Reading currently occupy one of the relegation places, but could move ahead of the Millers in the league table with a win at the Madejski Stadium.

It's the start of a crucial set of fixtures for the Berkshire-based side as they look to retain their Championship status this season.

They face Rotherham this weekend, before taking on Ipswich and Wigan in consecutive weeks, so it's a crucial period of the season for Gomes' side.

But how can we expect the Royals to line-up against Rotherham this weekend?

Find out below....

[snack_break title="GK: Emiliano Martinez"]

The on-loan Arsenal goalkeeper has saved the Royals valuable points this season, and is a certain starter this weekend ahead of the likes of Sam Walker and Anssi Jaakkola.

[snack_break title="RB: Andy Yiadom"]

Yiadom has been one of Reading's most consistent performers this season and is likely to start this game. He has kept Chris Gunter out of the side for the majority of this year's campaign, and there's no reason why he won't start this one.

[snack_break title="CB: Liam Moore"]

Moore has been impressive for a number of seasons now, and Reading are lucky to have a player of his quality in their side.

He’ll be crucial in their fight against relegation this season.

[snack_break title="CB: Matt Miazga"]

Miazga has impressed Royals supporters since arriving from Chelsea on loan and has formed an impressive partnership in the centre of defence with Liam Moore.

[snack_break title="LB: Omar Richards"]

Richards could move back to his more natural position at left-back, with Tyler Blackett only returning to training earlier this week.

[snack_break title="CM: Lewis Baker"]

Baker is likely to start this one in the centre of midfield, and his creativity will be key to unlocking a defiant Rotherham defence.

[snack_break title="CM: Ovie Ejaria"]

Ejaria could retain his place in the centre of midfield and will be hoping for a better showing than last time out against Sheffield United.

[snack_break title="CAM: John Swift"]

Swift started on the bench against the Blades last weekend, but the Royals badly missed his creativitiy and he was brought on early in the first-half in a re-shuffle.

He’s a certain starter in such a crucial game.

[snack_break title="LW: Mo Barrow"]

Barrow could be in line to return to the starting XI this weekend, and his pace and trickery is likely to cause the Rotherham defence all sorts of problems on the day.

[snack_break title="RW: Yakou Meite"]

Meite has struggled for consistency in recent weeks, but he’ll be keen to show Jose Gomes what he can offer this Reading team this weekend against a defensive Rotherham defence.

[snack_break title="ST: Nelson Oliveira"]

Reading’s saviour is guaranteed to start in this one.

He has already shown what he can bring to this Reading team, and at times already this season, he has won Reading vital points.
