Birmingham’s poor start to the season cost Harry Redknapp his job as manager, with the Blues looking to turn things around.

Reports have confirmed that Aitor Karanka rejected the opportunity to take the role at St Andrew’s, with Steve Cotterill, Redknapp’s former assistant, now confirmed as the club's new manager.

Cotterill was part of Redknapp’s coaching set-up last season, helping Birmingham survive relegation by the narrowest of margins.

He rejected the opportunity to remain with Redknapp this season, but the former Burnley and Bristol City manager has now returned and will take over following the international break, with Carsley remaining as his assistant.
