Middlesbrough forward, Martin Braithwaite is undergoing a medical with Spanish side, Leganes over a loan deal according to Spanish media outlet, Marca.

Braithwaite has fallen out of favour at Boro this season, with Tony Pulis seemingly reluctant to even give the forward a run in the starting XI.

It's an even more surprising move given that Middlesbrough have dropped down the table recently, and with a lack of goals in the side, Braithwaite is still yet to get a look in.

Braithwaite has made just 12 starts this season for the promotion chasing side, but has scored on just three occasions in this years campaign.

According to Marca, the move will be a season long loan deal, but it remains to be seen as to whether Leganes will want to put a clause in his contract to make the deal a permanent one in the summer.

Braithwaite's current deal with Middlesbrough expires in 2021 and many supporters will have been disappointed with his contribution so far after arriving from from French side, Toulouse in 2017.

Middlesbrough will be fully focused on gaining promotion back to the Premier League this season, and they have put themselves in a good position to do so, with Pulis' side currently sat 5th in the Championship table.

The Verdict:

It's the best outcome for Braithwaite.

I still find it hard to believe that he doesn't have a role to play for Middlesbrough in their promotion bid this season.

But if the forward can rediscover his form out on loan for the rest of the year, then he could potentially force his way into Tony Pulis' plans next season.
