Ryan Manning is nearing the Queens Park Rangers exit door, with the highly-rated midfielder expected to join Rotherham United.

According to HITC, Manning is currently undergoing a medical in South Yorkshire, ahead of a loan move to Rotherham.

Steve McClaren has pushed the 22-year-old down the pecking order at Loftus Road, with Manning limited to two substitute appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Manning has a total of 41 appearances under his belt for QPR, with Ian Holloway using the midfielder regularly last season.

The Irishman scored two goals in 21 appearances across all competitions, but now finds himself heading for the QPR exit door.

The youngster will link up with Rotherham across the Championship, with McClaren hoping that the midfielder gains more first-team experience under Paul Warne.

Should Manning’s expected deal go through, he could be in contention to make his debut for Rotherham this weekend when they travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United.

Warne’s side are looking for their second successive victory, having beaten Ipswich Town last weekend to pick up their first points of the season.

The Verdict

Manning is a talented player, and if he isn’t going to be playing regular football for QPR, he needs a move.

At Rotherham, Manning will expect to play, which will only be a good thing for all parties involved.

The 22-year-old has the potential to have a real impact in South Yorkshire.
