Bradford City and Chesterfield are involved in an incredible transfer chain today, with Andy Giddings from BBC Radio Sheffield confirming that the wheels are in motion for a string of deals to happen.

Stuart McCall and Bradford have stepped up their attempts to sign Kristian Dennis from Chesterfield, with a medical already underway for the striker to complete his move to Valley Parade.

So far this season, Dennis, 27, has scored 13 goals in 27 appearances in League Two, adding a further two assists to that tally for Chesterfield. However, the striker is now set to take the step into League One with Bradford, where he will link-up with the Bantams, who are looking to secure a return to the second-tier.

Dennis’ switch to Valley Parade will open the door for Chesterfield to make a transfer swoop of their own, with Jack Lester’s side hoping to bring Jonson Clarke-Harris in from Rotherham United.

Clarke-Harris has struggled for opportunities with Rotherham in League One this season, featuring on just 14 occasions.

The Verdict

As is often the case on deadline day, signings often depend on signings elsewhere, which is certainly the case here.

Bradford are getting their hands on an extremely in-form forward in Dennis, who could potentially bring the goals to boost the club’s play-off hopes.

Chesterfield will be disappointed to lose such a prolific scorer, but in Clarke-Harris, they are getting a player who could offer a lot to their League Two campaign in Dennis’ absence.
