Medical scheduled as Cardiff City close in on Leeds United transfer agreement

Leeds United full back Cody Drameh is set to have his medical with Cardiff City ahead of his loan move to the club this January.

Cardiff reportedly beat Swansea City to the signing, according to Fabrizio Romano

The clubs came to an agreement over the player today, keeping him at the club for the remainder of the season. The confirmation of the deal will be announced by the club tomorrow.

The Italian journalist has also reported that Cardiff will have no option to buy the player at the end of his deal with the club in June.

Leeds United apparently have big plans for the player which likely means a potential place in the team for next season.

Drameh has represented England at underage level, playing for the U18s, U20s and U21 sides. Drameh signed for Leeds United in 2020 having come through the academy at Fulham.

Cardiff City are currently fighting against relegation out of the Championship with the club now 20th in the table.

The Bluebirds are only four points ahead of 22nd place Peterborough and have played a game more than their relegation rivals.

Cardiff are winless in four league games, however they did progress to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup with victory over Preston North End last Sunday.

Their next game comes in the league against Blackburn Rovers on January 15.

The Verdict

This is a promising move for Cardiff, who are receiving a highly rated player for the rest of the season.

It is unfortunate they couldn’t find an agreement to try to sign the player in the summer, given the list of teams sniffing around his signature.

This will be a great opportunity for Drameh, who will be pushing to earn as many playing minutes as he can get. If he can take those minutes and perform to the required standard then he has every chance of breaking into the Leeds team next season more permanently.
