Premier League title hopefuls Spurs are edging closer to completing a deal for another Championship star.

Mauricio Pochettino's men have been active this summer already and now, according to Football Insider, are close to landing Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon, with a medical planned in for the England under-21 starlet.

The 19-year-old failed to light up the Premier League last season as he fell victim to a Fulham team which struggled overall in the top flight. However, he has still attracted plenty of interest over the last two years, and it looks like Spurs are now finally going to win the race for his signature.

Sessegnon burst onto the scene for Fulham as a 16-year-old and played a crucial role in the club winning promotion from the Championship two years ago, as he formed an impressive attacking outlet for the Cottagers with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Tom Cairney.

Fulham though are undergoing something of a rebuild under new manager Scott Parker, and will be well aware they are now more or less powerless to resist approaches from Premier League clubs for Sessegnon, with the player one of the most in-demand talents in the English game.

Sessegnon has scored 20 Championship goals in just over 70 appearances so far, but managed just two goals in the Premier League last season as Fulham were relegated.

The Verdict

This will probably bring an end to one of the longest running sagas in Championship football really, and Sessegnon is probably going to the right club in Spurs.

He will hope to thrive under Pochettino, and with Danny Rose on his way out, he might look to make the left-back slot his own for Spurs.

There is no doubt Sessegnon is going right to the top, and still only 19, he has plenty of time to continue to improve and add to his game in the coming seasons.
