Sam Cosgrove is on his way to Birmingham City for a medical as he looks to complete a £2m move from Aberdeen to the Blues.

The Dons forward comes in as Aitor Karanka looks to bolster his attacking options.

Despite possessing the likes of Scott Hogan and Lukas Jutkiewicz, the club has struggled for goals this season in the Sky Bet Championship and it is evident that they need further firepower.

Time will tell, then, whether Cosgrove can help them do that with his medical lined up and all seemingly set for him to finalise his deal in the near future:

The Verdict

Cosgrove is perhaps not a prolific striker - he has just three Scottish Premiership goals this season - but he is a physical presence up front and that is probably what Karanka is looking at here.

He'll be hoping Cosgrove can come in and do a similar role to Lukasz Jutkiewicz and help share the workload with so many fixtures coming for the Blues in the near future.

Indeed, if he can help freshen things up in the forward line that may spark more goals in the second-half of the season and that is what the Blues need in the remaining matches.
