Queens Park Rangers manager Steve McClaren bemoaned his side's poor finishing as they crashed to a 1-0 defeat to Norwich City at Loftus Road on Saturday.

The loss brings an end to the Rs four-game unbeaten run after Teemu Pukki scored his fifth of the season but they remain in 16th place.

“There was good endeavour but it was about quality in both boxes,” McClaren told the club's official website.

“The difference is we didn’t score. We had enough half chances.

“It was always going to be a one-goal game, or a 0-0, and it was a horrible goal, a ricochet off Toni Leistner and then a chest and in."

Daniel Farke's side dominated possession in the first half and looked the only team likely to score but Jamal Lewis's cross which just evaded Pukki was as close as they came to an opener in the first period.

It took until the 71st minute for the Canaries to finally make their pressure tell as Finland international Pukki diverted a Marco Stiepermann cross past Joe Lumley in the QPR goal with his chest to give the away side a deserved lead.

Luke Freeman came close to an equaliser for the Rs, but his powerful effort was tipped over brilliantly by Tim Krul.

The verdict

This result is nothing to worry about for the Rs.

They have shown over the past few weeks that they have more than enough quality within their team to survive.

McClaren will need to dust them down after this disappointing result but that should not be an issue.
