West Bromwich Albion supporters have been getting involved in a debate over who has been the club's biggest bargain signing in the transfer window over the years.

The Baggies have secured some excellent value for money additions throughout their recent history, bringing in players for relatively low transfer fees, who have gone onto be reliable performers for a number seasons in both the Championship and Premier League.

One such example was the signing of Gareth McAuley from Ipswich Town in the summer of 2011, and that proved to be an inspired transfer with the Northern Ireland international going onto make over 200 appearances for the Baggies, and making over 30 appearances in the league for the club in five out of his seven seasons at the Hawthorns.

The defender arrived at the club ahead of their second season back in the Premier League and helped the Baggies to establish themselves in the English top flight during his seven season spell at the club, with his excellent leadership ability and willingness to put his body on the line making him a fans' favourite.

Another potential candidate is the signing of Youssouf Mulumbu, who arrived at the Hawthorns in the January transfer window in 2009 from Paris Saint Germain, and the midfielder became a crucial part of the Baggies' midfield for his six full seasons at the Hawthorns, being integral to West Brom's promotion from the Championship in the 2009/10 season and helping them establish themselves in the top flight.

Some West Brom fans have even pointed out the signing of Semi Ajayi this summer as a potential bargain, with the defender having arrived from Rotherham United in the summer, and establishing himself as a key part of Slaven Bilic's defence helping the Baggies sit on top of the league heading into the festive period.
