Despite kicking off the new Championship season with a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest, West Brom manager Slaven Bilic is still seemingly keen to add to his squad and is looking to add Spurs defender Cameron Carter-Vickers before the transfer window closes, according to a report on TEAMtalk.

The USA international is a product of the Tottenham youth system, but has struggled to make an impact in the first team, spending the majority of the last couple of seasons out on loan, with another loan spell this season looking very likely.

So would Carter-Vickers be a good addition at the Hawthorns?

We discuss........

George Harbey

“I think that Carter-Vickers would be a decent signing for West Brom, but I’m not really sure that it’s an area they need to strengthen before deadline day.

“The USA international is obviously a very strong, commanding defender who has had a taste of what the Championship is all about for the likes of Swansea and Ipswich.

“But West Brom already have plenty of talented defenders at the club, with Semi Ajayi and Kyle Bartley putting in a very decent performance at the weekend.

“With Ahmed Hegazi also set to return from injury, I’d be focusing solely on signing a new right-back before Thursday if I were Bilic.”

Alfie Burns

“I’m actually liking the look of West Brom’s defensive unit heading into mid-August, and I’m not sure it is an area that needs mass investment.

“Bilic will know the need for a prolific striker to come through the door in the coming days, then he can start thinking about players like Carter-Vickers to pad out his squad.

“The defender has qualities that would suit Albion and his experience of the Championship in the last couple of years is another positive.

“Maybe this is one for late in the window, when the Baggies will hope they’ve got their key men through the door.”

Gary Hutchinson

“He’s a good signing for any club at this level. He’s young, ambitious and has got senior football under his belt.

“If the Baggies want to be around the top six then this is just the type of player they have to be attracting.

“It wouldn’t be easy for him to get a game though, not with Semi Ajayi and Kyle Bartley at the club. Would he be mere competition?

“Or does it point to a switch to three at the back for Bilic? It’s an interesting target for them to haver given the need for attacking options.”
