Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Coventry City midfielder, Zain Westbrooke, this month.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side are looking to build on an encouraging first-half to the season in 2019/20, with TEAMtalk claiming that they are keen on bolstering their ranks with Westbrooke, the scorer of four midfield goals for Coventry so far this term.

It is a fierce race amongst Championship clubs to sign the 23-year-old, but would he be a good fit at the City Ground with the promotion-chasing Reds?

We discuss…

Alfie Burns

“Westbrooke is in-demand this month and given his form for Coventry so far this season, you can see why, with the midfielder scoring goals and looking like someone who could make the step up into the Championship.

“For Forest, would he break into Lamouchi’s side? I doubt that at the moment, but the potential is all there.

“Lamouchi is building something good at the City Ground and Forest are looking a well-oiled unit, which looks difficult environment for a 23-year-old midfielder to step up and impact.

“However, age is on his side and in time, he could be a fine addition.”

George Brooks

"Zain Westbrooke is a promising young player and his performances for Coventry City in League One so far this season have been very encouraging.

"He's already scored four goals and seems to have a lot of potential. He'll be determined to prove that he's good enough to make an impact in the Championship, so he could be a good signing for Nottingham Forest.

"On the other hand, I'm not sure Forest really need another midfielder. Sabri Lamouchi already has the likes of Samba Sow, Ben Watson, Tiago Silva, Alfa Semdeo, Ryan Yates and John Bostock available to him. With this in mind, Westbrooke may find it difficult to get into the starting XI.

"The club have also got some very promising youngsters on their books as well and with the likes of Brennan Johnson coming through, I'm not sure it would make sense for the club to sign Westbrooke, as it would block the path of some of the younger players who are coming through."

Phil Spencer

“It’s no surprise to see Zain Westbrooke attracting attention.

“The midfielder has been a key part of Coventry City’s success so far this term after playing a part in eight goals.

“Nottingham Forest have high hopes of securing a play-off place this term, and given the competition for places at the City Ground, a move for the Sky Blues’ star may not be the best move.

“While Westbrooke has the potential to play at Championship level, he’s unlikely to be the man who will help Forest push on to the next level.”
