Football League World's Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit Edward Marsh has suggested that the club should secure January loan moves for youth team players, such as Alex Hunt and Ash Baker, as they may be relied upon in the future in the case of a transfer embargo.

The Owls were charged by the EFL with misconduct in regards to the sale of Hillsborough to owner Dejphon Chansiri in order to stay within profitability and sustainability (P&S) rules.

The £60 million sale of Wednesday's stadium allowed them to record a pre-tax profit of £2.5 million in 2017/18–meaning they didn't break P&S rules.

It is understood that the Yorkshire club could face any sanction including a points deduction, financial penalty or expulsion from the league.

With the Owls having faced a transfer embargo in the past, Marsh suggested that it could be a good idea to get their youth team players some more first-team game time in case they were needed to step up in the near future.

He said: "I would like to see some youth team players go out on loan for the second half of the season.

"I think players such as Hunt and Baker would benefit greatly from more game time.

"And, with a transfer embargo possible they may have to be relied upon in the future."

After a strong start to the season, Wednesday are now without a win in the last three games and will be hoping to end that run after the international break.

That could be tough, however, as the Owls face league leaders West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
