Norwich City defender Max Aarons rejected the chance to leave the club in the January transfer window, according to a report from TEAMtalk.

It is understood that Aarons was presented with the opportunity to join two unnamed Premier League sides last month.

The full-back was also given the chance to move abroad but decided to turn down all of these offers in order to stay at Carrow Road.

Aarons is believed to be set to make a decision on his long-term future at Norwich following the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign.

The 23-year-old's current deal with the Canaries runs until 2024.

Ahead of the previous transfer window, a report from The Sun suggested that Manchester United were weighing up a move for Aarons.

The Red Devils ultimately opted against bolstering their options in the right-back position last month.

As per the Daily Mail, Fulham were lining up Aarons as an alternative target to Cedric Soares.

The Cottagers eventually sealed a temporary move for the aforementioned defender from Arsenal earlier this week.

Having featured for Norwich in each of their last 10 league fixtures, Aarons is expected to start in the club's clash with Burnley this weekend.

The Canaries will be full of confidence heading into this fixture following their recent victories over Preston North End and Coventry City.

The Verdict

Norwich will be delighted by the fact that Aarons decided to stay at the club instead of sealing a permanent departure in January as he is a key member of their squad.

Particularly impressive in an attacking sense against Preston last month, Aarons set up two goals for his team-mates at Deepdale as he recorded a WhoScored match rating of 8.18.

By learning from the guidance of head coach David Wagner in the coming months, the defender will continue to make strides in terms of his development.

With Norwich aiming to secure promotion via the play-offs later this year, Aarons' ability to maintain his fitness as well his consistency could have a significant impact on the club's quest for success in the Championship.
