Matty Cash has sent a message to his Nottingham Forest teammate Tendayi Darikwa on social media, as the defender continues his recovery from a serious knee injury.

Darikwa has missed the start of the season for Forest after suffering a ruptured ACL on the eve of the new campaign, and is expected to be out of action for around six months following successful knee surgery.

The 27-year-old admitted recently that he's hoping to return to action for Forest before the send of the season and he's now posted an update on social media, as he works towards his recovery.

The right-back posted a photo of himself in the gym on an exercise bike on his personal Instagram account and his Forest teammate Cash was one of the first to comment on the post, wishing him a speedy recovery.

“Beast mode! Back soon bruda,” Cash commented.

Cash has been an important player for Forest this season and has played a key role in the Reds' promising start to their campaign under Sabri Lamouchi.

The 22-year-old is naturally a more attacking player but has been used as a right-back so far this season in Darikwa's absence, and has impressed with his performances up and down the right flank.

The Verdict

It's great news to see that Darikwa is making good progress towards his recovery and and even though he's not expected to return to action for a while, it's been a difficult few months for the defender and I'm sure he'll appreciate this message from Cash.

Darikwa was an important player for Forest last season and it'll be a major boost for the Reds when he's able to return to action, especially as he's due return to at what could be a crucial point in their promotion push.

He'll be determined to make an impact when he does return to fitness and it'll be interesting to see if he can force his way back into the side ahead of Cash at right-back.
