Matty Cash reacts to Alex Mighten’s display in Nottingham Forest’s win over Blackburn Rovers

Published

Nottingham Forest picked up an important three points in their bid to survive in the Championship on Saturday, as they ran out 1-0 winners over Blackburn Rovers.

Alex Mighten scored the only goal of the game, before Brice Samba saved a late Adam Armstrong penalty to preserve the three points for Chris Hughton’s men.

The Reds are now sat 17th in the Championship table, and are seven points clear of the relegation zone heading into their final 15 matches in this year’s campaign.

Mighten was making his 16th appearance of the season in all competitions for Nottingham Forest in the win over the Lancashire-based side on Saturday.

The 18-year-old now has two goals to his name this term, and will be eager to add to that tally as this year’s campaign progresses.

Former Nottingham Forest defender Matty Cash reacted to Mighten’s winner against Blackburn, with the Reds youngster insisting that he learnt from the Aston Villa full-back in his response to Cash.

Cash left Nottingham Forest back in the summer of 2020 in favour of a move to Aston Villa, where he has gone on to establish himself as a regular in Dean Smith’s team in the Premier League.

Mighten and his Nottingham Forest team-mates are set to return to action in midweek, when they take on relegation-threatened rivals Rotherham United at the New York Stadium.

The Verdict:

It’s great to see Cash still keeping tabs on his former club.

He was an excellent servant to Nottingham Forest, and he’s clearly pleased to see Mighten thriving in Chris Hughton’s team at this moment in time.

The youngster has really impressed me so far this season, and will be eager to replicate this performance moving forward into the final few months of this year’s league campaign.

If Forest can play like this every week, then they shouldn’t be worried about potential relegation into League One this season.
