Nottingham Forest ace Matty Cash has insisted that the Reds need to make the City Ground a fortress following their 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the Championship.
The Reds recorded back-to-back victories for the first time since the start of November and moved up to fifth in the league table, thanks to Tobias Figueiredo’s goal and a dramatic penalty save from Brice Samba.
Forest made a promising start to the season under Sabri Lamouchi, but a run of five matches without a victory saw them fall out of the play-off places. However, after their win over Wigan, the Reds have now won their last two matches.
The victory was also Forest’s first home win for four matches and Cash – who has been one of the standout players for the Reds so far this term – believes the Reds have to build on this victory and start winning more matches at home.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the 22-year-old has admitted the Forest need to make the City Ground a fortress, starting with the visit of Blackburn Rovers on New Year’s Day.
He said: “We need to make The City Ground a proper fortress now.
“We’re getting 29,000 here most weeks now and we need to make it a really tough place for teams to come and play and we’re looking to carry that on against Blackburn on Wednesday.”

I think Cash is spot on here. Forest have made an encouraging start to the season under Lamouchi, but if they’re going to win promotion this season they have to be more consistent at home.
It was a great result for them against Wigan yesterday and that should give the players a huge confidence boost going into their next few matches.
They will be hoping that this results gives them something to build on going into their clash with Blackburn.
