With the recent break from competitive action, it's a frustrating time to be a football supporter at the moment, with no scheduled return date being put in place for football to return as of yet.

Football Manager have recently invented the Football Manager EFL Cup, in an effort to keep players and supporters entertained during the break from sporting events.

Nottingham Forest's representative for the competition is winger Joe Lolley, who has made it no secret that he's a keen player of the game.

Lolley progressed to the next round of the competition on Wednesday evening, but was made to work hard for the victory, as they beat League Two side Mansfield Town on penalties after an entertaining 2-2 draw in normal time.

The Stags had three men sent-off during the game though, with the Reds unable to break down their opponents who defended valiantly.

Lolley's side were hit with a frustrating injury blow early into the game though, with Matty Cash being forced off after just 14 minutes.

Cash took to Twitter to question Lolley on the seriousness of the injury, which certainly went down well with plenty of the City Ground faithful.

Lolley was quick to respond to Cash's question, and made the hilarious claim that it was another one of his 'training ground' injuries, and that he should be ready to return for their next match.

Both Cash and Lolley have played a key role in Nottingham Forest's promotion bid in the Championship in real life, with the Reds currently sat fifth in the second tier standings with just nine games remaining in this year's campaign.

The Verdict:

It's a good job this isn't real life!

Cash has been brilliant for Nottingham Forest this season, and he'll be heavily relied on by Sabri Lamouchi heading into the final nine games of this year's campaign.

Lolley has been equally impressive this term, and will be hoping that he can play his part in their push for promotion into the Premier League.

If the Reds can put together a positive run of results heading towards the conclusion of this year's campaign, then I have no doubt in my mind in saying that they'll win a long overdue promotion into the top-flight.
