The Leeds forward's  contract was set to expire at the end of the current season, but Smith's representatives and Leeds owner Massimo Cellino sorted the player's future today.

The 25-year-old striker was a major target for Ian Holloway's Millwall, however any chance of him signing the striker have now been quashed.

On signing his new deal Matt Smith said: “I’m very happy and I’m delighted that it has happened.”

"It is a huge honour & a privilege for me to represent the football club. To extend my future here is brilliant and I’m over the moon.
