Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Bogusz has posted on Instagram after starring for the Poland U21s during the international break.
The 18-year-old has represented his national side at multiple age groups and received his first call-up for the U21s in September. Bogusz impressed on debut, coming off his bench against Estonia U21s and providing two assists in a 4-0 win.
On Friday, the midfielder made his first start for the U21 and impressed once again–playing for 86 minutes and providing an assist in a 2-2 draw with Russia U21s.
Bogusz may get his next chance to impress this evening as Poland U21s face Serbia U21s in Lodz, Poland, and ahead of the game he took to Instagram to post an image of himself in what appears to be a training session in the stadium.
Bogusz impressive performances for his country may come as no surprise to Leeds fans after the teenager turned some heads during pre-season and made his senior debut in the 2019/20 campaign.
The 18-year-old was named in the squad for the tour to Australia and was particularly eye-catching against Western Sydney Wanderers when he scored just nine minutes in after being named in the starting XI.
The Poland U21 international joined Leeds in January and after regularly appearing for Carlos Corberan's U23s made his debut against Stoke City in the Carabao Cup in August.
The Verdict
From his performances in pre-season and while on international duty, Bogusz looks like an exciting young talent and perhaps the heir apparent to Mateusz Klich in that attacking central midfield role.
With the Whites being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Stoke, it will be interesting to see whether that means the teenager gets any more game time this season.
He looks like someone who could break into the first team in the future and you'd imagine getting experience with Poland U21s will only help his development.
