Reading claimed yet another win after a convincing 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough at the Madejski Stadium, closing the gap on their opponents in second place to just two points.

Nick Blackman netted his ninth goal of the season as the Royals beat Middlesbrough 2-0 at the Madejski Stadium

The Royals are now just four points off the top going into the international break, and Steve Clarke's side wowed fans at the Madejski with a comfortable 2-0 win.

Danny Williams opened the scoring after just 15 seconds, bagging the fastest goal of the season so far, and the third fastest goal in Reading FC history. The strike was Williams' first goal on home soil since joining the club from Hoffenheim three seasons ago.

Aitor Karanka's side had large spells of possession but never turned this possession into any clear cut chances, and possible attacks were crushed by a solid Royals backline.

Michael Hector showed the form that lead to Chelsea paying £4 million for him, and Paul McShane looked at home alongside the ever-reliable Chris Gunter and Jordan Obita.

Reading were the better side in every department however.

Orlando Sa had a volley blocked off the line and Hal Robson-Kanu's cross narrowly missed Sa in the middle. And after Lucas Piazon made way for Ola John, the Royals found another gear and found themselves three-on-two, but Sa opted to cut inside instead of playing in the on-rushing Nick Blackman, and John failed to finish.

The in-form Blackman sealed the game off at 88 minutes, calmly slotting home a penalty after he was fouled in the box, sending Dimi Konstantopoulos the wrong way.

All-in-all, the signs are good for the Royals who will go into the international break full of confidence after back-to-back convincing wins against fellow promotion candidates.
