MK Dons pulled away from the Sky Bet Championship relegation zone after a 3-0 win over 10-man Blackburn Rovers, thanks to a brace from Ben Reeves and Simon Church goal.
Gary Bowyer’s side were behind after ten minutes and also down to ten men when Adam Henley was sent down the tunnel for bringing down Josh Murphy inside the box. Reeves then stroked home the resulting penalty to give the Dons an early lead.
After good chances for both Jake Forster-Caskey and Jordan Rhodes went begging, Church doubled the lead 19 minutes from time, heading home his second goal of the season from Murphy’s pin-point cross.
After Nicky Maynard tested Jason Steele with a late header, Reeves grabbed a third in the dying minutes to add some gloss to the scoreline. Forster-Caskey did brilliantly to pick out the Dons man, and Reeves duly slotted home for his second of the game, and indeed the season.
The win, their first in eight games, propels Karl Robinson’s side up to 16th in the table, three points clear of the drop zone, and just one place behind Blackburn, who suffered their fourth defeat of the season.
