Reading welcome Ipswich Town to the Madejski Stadium on Friday night in front of the live Sky TV cameras (8pm kick-off).

Steve Clarke's side face Ipswich Town at the Madejski Stadium

Reading began the season with a defeat at Birmingham City, drawing their next three before recording their first victory of the campaign with a 3-1 win over Brentford at Griffin Park before the international break.

Ipswich started with a 2-2 draw against Brentford before winning three on the bounce with wins over Sheffield Wednesday, Burnley and Preston, but that run ended with a 3-2 home defeat to high-flying Brighton & Hove Albion at Portman Road just before the break.

Reading have a good record against the Tractor Boys with winning seven of their last eight meetings, while the visitors have won just once in their last 10 trips to the Madejski Stadium.

Team News:

On loan Watford striker Matej Vydra looks set to make his Reading debut. The Czech Republic international joined the Royals on transfer deadline day along with Chelsea's Lucas Piazon and Benfica winger Ola John.

Manager Steve Clarke will give a late fitness test to Michael Hector. The Jamaican defender joined Chelsea on deadline day but was immediately loaned back to Berkshire outfit for the rest of the season. Hector, along with Danny Williams and Paolo Hurtado, didn't arrive back from international duty until Thursday.

Clarke looks set to be without defender Paul McShane, who is nursing a back injury, while striker Dominic Samuel is out with a knee problem.

Ipswich defender Christophe Berra could be in line to make a return after being out with a hamstring injury and boss Mick McCarthy is hopeful that strikers Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick are fit to play.

Midfielders Kevin Bru and Teddy Bishop have returned to training but are unlikely to feature against Reading and in line for a start in the Under-21s at Birmingham on Monday.
