Birmingham City will move above the MK Dons with a victory at Stadium:mk on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues have played a game less than most of their Championship counterparts, and are currently unbeaten in all competitions after a solid start.
Gary Rowett’s men have won one and drawn two of their league games, while also making light work of their progress to the third round of the Capital One Cup.
The Blues could have had a 100% record had they not conceded a late equaliser against Burnley as well as letting the lead slip against Derby County but, nevertheless, they will look on those as crucial points gained against two of the favourites for promotion.
Karl Robinson’s Dons have also enjoyed a decent opening to their first ever campaign in the second tier.
They have only lost once so far and are unbeaten in their last three, and beat Cardiff City 2-1 in the cup on Tuesday to advance to round three.
The only previous meeting between the sides came in the 2010/11 League Cup, which Birmingham won 3-1 on their way to winning the event.
