Fulham travel to high-flying Middlesbrough looking to kick start their season after a difficult start to the campaign.

Boro host Fulham

The home side are looking to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Reading before the international break and could potentially go top of the Championship if they win and Brighton fail to.

Before losing to Steve Clarke's men, Boro had won seven games in a row in all competitions and were living up to their favourites tag that they have been given, after a summer of spending under Aitor Karanka.

The Spaniard will hope to have David Nugent back in the starting XI after he only made the bench against the Royals with a hamstring injury. The former Leicester man has three goals and three assists in his five appearances for the club and has established himself as the club's main striker.

Albert Adomah and Cristhian Stuani will both be assessed before the game as they had long journeys back to Teesside after representing Ghana and Uruguay respectively.

Kit Symons goes into the game after speculation surrounding his future developed this week following a disappointing start to the campaign.

After a summer of adding new players, Symons is under increasing pressure to kick start a promotion push as the Cottagers look to return to the Premier League.

One of those summer recruits, Tim Ream, was injured while on international duty with the United States and he will have to be assessed before the game to determine whether he could play a part at the Riverside.

While the game may come too soon for Matt Smith, Ross McCormack will be hoping a similar performance from the last time he faced Boro. The former Leeds striker scored a hat-trick as Fulham recorded a 4-3 win last season to all but end Middlesbrough's automatic promotion hopes.
