McCarthy will be hoping for three points

Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich are looking to break a three-game losing and scoreless streak against the Clarets, who are aiming for their first win of the season in their quest for an instant return to the Premier League.

After Play-Off disappointment at the end of last season, the Tractor Boys have began this campaign in decent form.

They were denied three points at Brentford by a late revival by the Bees on the opening day, before coming from behind to see of Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday with Tommy Smith netting the winner.

Burnley have had to come from behind to claim a point in each of their opening two league matches, while they suffered a shock defeat at Port Vale in the Capital One Cup.

Matt Taylor’s free kick did the trick against Birmingham City on Saturday after Sam Vokes’ late header denied Leeds United on the opening weekend.

They will fancy their chances against Town, having done the double with 1-0 victories on their way to promotion in the 2013/14 campaign.
