Bruce's side take on Swansea City

The match will prove to be a stern test for newly-relegated side Hull City as they face up against an ever-improving Swansea City team.

The Welsh side have become a real force in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons and they will be hoping for a successful cup run to complement their good start to the Premier League season.

However, there's no doubt that Steve Bruce's Hull City team will be striving to prove the doubters wrong and progress through to the fourth round of the Capital One Cup against quality opposition. If they do just that, it will be a crystal clear statement to the rest of the Sky Bet Championship.

Notably, Jake Livermore could make his return to the Hull City side after testing positive for cocaine in May. After avoiding any suspension or charge, the 25 year old midfielder could return as Steve Bruce encourages Hull fans that the controversial player is mentally ready for the test.

Other players such as Chuba Akpom, David Meyler, Ryan Taylor and Ahmed Elmohamady are also in contention to feature, as Hull City look to field a strong side against Premier League opposition.

Swansea boss Gary Monk on the other hand has urged that he will not be making as many changes as he did in the last round of the Capital One Cup, despite the fact that the likes of Eder, Franck Tabanou and Kristoffer Nordfeldt could make rare appearances for the Welsh side.

The KC Stadium will no doubt be the venue of an intense match-up between two sides that played each other last season in the Premier League. However, Hull City are now in the second-tier of English football and have a lot to prove when it comes to their chances of winning promotion straight back to the top-flight.
