Preston North End are looking to build on their Capital One Cup exploits when they travel to Hull City on Saturday afternoon.
Simon Grayson’s men stunned Premier League side Watford at Deepdale on Tuesday night, thanks to Sheffield Wednesday loanee Marnick Vermijl’s first goal for the club.
It was just the response they needed, too, after suffering their first defeat since returning to the Championship last weekend, when league leaders Ipswich Town beat them 2-1.
Nevertheless, they have made a fairly solid start to the season and are aiming for their second away victory of the campaign against Hull.
The Tigers also fell to their first loss since their relegation from the Premier League last Saturday, as Johann Berg Gudmundsson struck in the eighth minute of stoppage time to snatch all three points for Charlton Athletic.
Other than that, Steve Bruce will be pleased with their start which has seen them pick up two wins and a draw from the opening four games.
Their last meetings came five seasons ago when Hull did the double over Preston, who were relegated at the end of the campaign.
