Two sides struggling near the bottom of the Championship meet on Saturday as Bolton Wanderers travel to Huddersfield Town, with both sides looking to widen the gap between themselves and the bottom three.
Huddersfield are currently sat in 20th position, just a point above the relegation zone, but they secured their first win of the season in midweek against Charlton Athletic. Harry Bunn and Emyr Huws wrapped up the victory for Chris Powell’s side, and the former Addicks manager must decide whether to make changes for the tie against the Trotters.
Top scorer Nakhi Wells will be hoping to return to the starting eleven after being dropped to the bench for the game at the Valley. Defender Tommy Smith and forward Jamie Paterson were also dropped to the bench at Charlton, but both are pushing for a recall.
The only doubt for Powell is Jonathan Hogg, who missed the game in midweek because of an ankle problem.
Bolton have climbed up the table in recent weeks with three draws in four, as well as getting their first win of the season last weekend against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Four points from their last two games have seen Neil Lennon’s men climb to 17th in the Championship, two points clear of the bottom three.
However, Lennon has a number of injury concerns for the trip to the John Smith’s Stadium. Zach Clough injured his shoulder in midweek and will miss the game, and possibly more if surgery is required. Meanwhile, David Wheater, Max Clayton and Liam Trotter all played in a behind-closed doors match this week, although none of them are ready for the game this weekend. Captain Darren Pratley and Dorian Dervite are long-term absentees for the Trotters.
