Pools had won each of their first four games in all competitions this season, including a 1-0 victory over Fleetwood Town in the first round two weeks ago.

However, Teddy Sheringham’s Stevenage brought their winning streak to an end on Saturday with a routine 2-0 victory at the Lamex Stadium.

Billy Paynter has been their man of the moment with three goals already, and he will be looking to add to his tally against the top-flight side.

It was just three seasons ago that Bournemouth were regularly making the long journey to the North East, how times have changed for Eddie Howe’s men.

They come into the game off the back of their first ever win in the Premier League, as Callum Wilson’s hat-trick sealed a narrow 4-3 victory over West Ham United.

Despite losing their opening two matches to Aston Villa and Liverpool, they showed great character in both and are now looking for a similar run in this competition to last year as they reached the quarter-finals.
