Gillingham travel to the Proact Stadium this afternoon to face a Chesterfield side who have won just one of their last six league games.
Justin Edinburgh’s side find themselves in fourth place after a good start to the season, which has seen them win six of their opening 11 games.
They are just one point off automatic promotion, and know a victory this afternoon could lift them into the top two.
Even a loss wouldn’t send Gillingham out of the Play-offs, but a win is important if they are to launch a serious title challenge, as Burton have the chance to cement their place at the top, and open up a seven point lead over the Gills.
Chesterfield, under the stewardship of Dean Saunders, will be looking to bounce back from their Tuesday defeat to Rochdale in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy with a win against Saunders’ previous employers.
The visitors have Rory Donnelly back in the first team picture and will be hoping he can keep up his excellent form. John Egan and Bradley Dack could also make returns, as could Chesterfield’s Lee Novak, ahead of what could be a fascinating encounter.
