After advancing to the third round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday, Reading travel to Brentford searching for their first league win of the season.
The Royals came from behind to see off League Two Portsmouth and, while it stretched their unbeaten run to five matches in all competitions, a victory at Griffin Park would really get their campaign up and running.
Steve Clarke’s main cause for concern has been scoring goals, with just two to his side’s name in the Championship, and he will be keen to find the answer to his problems before the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday evening.
Brentford will be hoping that the goals do not dry up for them following the sale of talisman Andre Gray to Burnley.
The Bees have had an inconsistent start to the campaign with a win, a draw and two defeats so far.
Just three days after they scored twice in stoppage-time to rescue a point against Ipswich Town, Marinus Dijkhuizen’s men suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Oxford United in the Capital One Cup.
This was followed by a thrilling 4-2 win over Bristol City before being edged out by Burnley last Saturday.
They did the double over Reading last season and will be keen to make it three in a row this afternoon.
