Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou has revealed that he is close to signing a new contract with the Robins.
The Senegal international, who scored the only goal in the 1-0 success over Derby County yesterday, is out of contract in the summer of 2021, so there were obviously worries at Ashton Gate that they could lose Diedhiou on a free next year.
However, the target man has spoken about his current situation, as he reiterated just how happy he is to be at the club, whilst he suggested an announcement could be close when speaking to Bristol Live.
“I’m very happy here… I just love my job and the squad and the players. We’re going in the same way. I think it’s [the new contract] coming soon.”
Whilst Diedhiou has only scored one goal this season, he has been an important player for the team over the years, and he is always a threat with his physicality up top.

So, keeping him at the club would be a major boost for the club and it’s fair to say the fans are delighted by the news. Here we look at some of their reaction following the update…
Massive if he signs a new deal, he’s a hell of a player on his day. May not score a massive amount of goals although his goal scoring record isn’t bad. He contributes in other ways

That would be magnificent. He loves it here that’s obvious and he’s one hell of a striker and person. Sign the dotted line @famara2001 please

Really pleased about this. Fam has a decent track record in the championship and means we have four strikers giving Dean decent options. You always need options….! 😉 https://t.co/DRoqZaiy6I
