Leeds United's promotion hopes were dealt a blow with the club confirming that Pontus Jansson is set for a spell in the treatment room.

The Swedish international picked up a knee injury in their defeat to Sheffield United at the weekend, but played through the pain barrier, with Leeds having used all of their substitutes.

It has been confirmed that Jansson is set to be ruled out for three weeks, which will see him miss matches against Millwall and Birmingham after the international break.

But Jansson has also withdrawn from the Sweden squad for their Euro 2020 qualifiers and will be hoping to make a swift return to action.

Gaetano Berardi is the likely replacement for Jansson in the centre of defence, after he recently returned to the first-team picture after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

This latest update on Jansson's injury was met with a mixed response from Leeds supporters.
