Leeds United are set for a busy summer this time around, with Marcelo Bielsa keen on adding to his squad ahead of next season.

The Whites came within a whisker of winning promotion to the Premier League, but must now settle for another year in the Championship as they look to return to the top flight for the first time in over 15 years.

However, one of their transfer targets appears to be off the table somewhat now, with Football Insider reporting today that the Whites are set to drop their pursuit of Liverpool winger Ryan Kent.

The young winger had been linked with a move to Elland Road in the last few weeks, but with Rangers also in the hunt for his signature and Liverpool slapping a huge £12m transfer fee on his head, the move to West Yorkshire now appears to be off.

However, just how important a piece of news is this for Leeds, and does it represent a blow to the club or not?

We asked our writing team here at FLW to give us their thoughts on Kent's supposed collapsed move to Elland Road...

Jacob Potter

"I think it's a good move if I'm honest.
"I do think that he would have been a good player to have in Marcelo Bielsa's squad, but I have my doubts as to whether he would have been up to the standard in the Championship.
"I'd be putting all my eggs in one basket with Helder Costa if I was Bielsa, as he is a player that is proven to be a success in the Championship.
"It's a positive that they've pulled out of the race to sign Kent, as it gives them time to focus on alternative targets elsewhere before their season gets underway in August."

Chris Gallagher

"This is a massive blow.
"Had the Whites managed to bring Kent to Elland Road it would have been a real statement signing as he is exactly the sort of player they need and one who would thrive under Bielsa.
"However, it was always going to be a difficult deal to finalise for many reasons so it's not too surprising to see the move won't happen.
"The challenge for the Leeds recruitment team is to find alternatives who are of the same calibre to Kent."

Lee Connor

"I'm not sure it's a huge blow in all honesty, but I can understand that Leeds fans might be a bit frustrated.

"Kent is a talent but he hasn't done anything in the English game of note as yet, and they also have other irons in the fire too, some of which are better options than Kent.

"He seems the sort of player who is happy playing in an encouraging environment, and he might get that at Rangers if he goes there.

"One thing is certain though, and that's that he's not displacing Salah or Mane any time soon!"
