Mason Mount certainly made his mark in front of his parent club, Chelsea, but the youngster was unable to stop his side falling to a narrow defeat to Maurizio Sarri's much changed side.

Many fans were surprised when Chelsea allowed Mount and his Derby team-mate Fikayo Tomori to face the side they are currently on loan from, and Mount impressed, having a part to play in both goals Derby scored on the night.

Speaking in a press conference after their defeat to the Blues, Mount described playing against his parent club as 'an unbelievable experience.'

'It was an unbelievable experience for me, to come and play in front of all these Chelsea fans - and Derby fans,' said Mount.

'It was quite surreal, having been at Chelsea since I was six-years-old, and my first (senior) game at Stamford Bridge is against them.

Mount recently received his first call-up to Gareth Southgate's England senior squad and despite beating Manchester United in the previous round, he admitted he was more nervous walking out in front of the Stamford Bridge crowd.

'I wasn't nervous at (Manchester) United but going to Chelsea and knowing so many people at the club... but it was an unbelievable game and a special, special moment.

'It was a weird feeling but something I will remember for a long time.

'There is so much I can take away from this game.'

The 19-year-old is confident that the Rams can build on the performance against the Premier League side and take it into their next league game against Birmingham City at the weekend.

'I think we can take confidence from the way we played, and hold our heads high.

'Going down twice and coming back the way we did shows the character we have in the team.

The Verdict:

It comes as no surprise to see that Mount impressed against Chelsea in their defeat, as I firmly believe that he has the ability to be a regular in their side for years to come.

If they can actually give him regular game time next season, then I'm sure he will thrive in this current Chelsea side and he would be part of an exciting attacking Chelsea line-up.

Mount and his Derby side will be confident of getting a positive result against an in-form Birmingham City team this weekend in front of the Derby supporters.
