Mason Burstow starts: The predicted Charlton Athletic XI to face Crewe tonight

Charlton Athletic travel to 23rd placed Crewe Alexandra this evening in pursuit of their first league victory since Johnnie Jackson was appointed permanent manager.

The Addicks have suffered back-to-back 1-0 defeats in the league at the hands of Plymouth Argyle and Wycombe Wanderers.

Top scorer Jayden Stockley could miss out once again, having not featured in the matchday squad for the club’s 1-0 FA Cup third round loss to Norwich City due to a hip injury.

Conor Washington also missed the Canaries test but seems the more likely to return to the side for the trip to Gresty Road.

Here, we are predicting one change from the Addicks line-up who were defeated by the Chairboys last time out in League One…

Josh Davison appears to have fallen down the pecking order in recent weeks which sees Mason Burstow come in for his first senior league start.

The 18-year-old has looked bright in scoring three goals across the FA Cup and Papa John’s Trophy this season and could be preferred to partner Washington at the top of the pitch.

Jonathan Leko will also be in contention for a start but having completed two full matches last week, Jackson may take the opportunity to give him a rest.

Adam Matthews and Ryan Inniss are available for selection as defensive cover, with Corey Blackett-Taylor also recently returning from injury to add competition for places.

Sam Lavelle does not look too far away but remains unavailable along with long term absentee Jake Forster-Caskey.

The Addicks are strong favourites heading into the encounter but the Railwaymen’s form has improved in the last few months to see a flicker of hope remain in their League One survival bid.
