Mason Bennett has revealed what it is like working with Millwall manager Gary Rowett.

The forward signed for the club last month on loan from Derby County and linked up with Rowett who had previously managed the 23-year-old at Pride Park.

Rowett had been in charge at the club since March 2017 to May 2018 before choosing to take up the vacant manager's position at Stoke City.

Bennett only featured in seven games for Derby across the 14-month period that Rowett was in charge of the side.

The forward was loaned out to Notts County in January 2018 for the rest of the season during Rowett's tenure at Derby.

Speaking to News At Den about the Millwall manager, Bennett said: "Rowett is a great man-manager. He listens to his players and he gets his tactics across really well, the lads take them on board.

"I’m delighted to be working with him again."

The 23-year-old had struggled to make his mark at Derby this season with a total of zero goals in nine appearances before an ankle injury pre-Christmas halted the forward's development.

He now looks to get his career back on track at The Den under his former manager as he fights for a spot in a strong Millwall attack.

The Lions are currently pushing for the play-offs as they sit four points off of sixth-placed Preston North End.

The Verdict

Rowett has clearly seen enough in Bennett from his Derby days that made him bring the forward to Millwall on loan.

The former Burton Albion boss is likely to know what the forward's strengths are and will try to play to them when he looks to use him across the remaining 13 games this season.
