One area that Wednesday probably still have a way to go in, looking at recruitment, is in defence, but as it stands Johnson is one of the first names on the team sheet at left wing back.

Moore's men were amongst the most dangerous in the division in the second half of last term with a three at the back formation, and the role does suit Johnson's style of play both in and out of possession.

The Verdict

It is hard to read too much into pre-season with players slowly building their fitness back up and getting used to playing with new team-mates.

Jaden Brown is the most dangerous player in the Wednesday squad at the moment, as far as Johnson's starting berth is concerned, with some of the forward options that the Owls had last term departing at the end of their deals or returning to parent clubs.

Wednesday have a very challenging first couple of months fixture wise in the calendar, and therefore patience may be required from the stands before the team can assert themselves as one of the pace-setters at the top end.
