Derby County ran out narrow 1-0 winners over promotion-chasing Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.

North End came into the game occupying one of the automatic promotion places, but were undone by a Derby side that continue their impressive run of form at home.

Martyn Waghorn scored the only goal of the game, as he took his tally to five for the season so far.

The 29-year-old took to

The win over the Lilywhites mean that Derby have won their last five league games at Pride Park, and without conceding a single goal in that impressive run of form, it certainly makes for good reading for Phillip Cocu's side.

Derby will know that overall performances haven't been good enough this season, with the Rams currently sat 11th in the Championship table heading into the festive period.

But if they can replicate their performances at home when they're on their travels, then they'll soon be challenging for a play-off place.

The Rams were beaten by Aston Villa in the Play-Off Final last season, and will be keen to go one step better this term.

Phillip Cocu's men are next in action on Tuesday when they take on promotion-chasing Fulham at Craven Cottage in what is certain to be a tough test for the Rams.

The Verdict:

Their home form is a real positive heading into the festive period.

Derby might be struggling on their travels so far this season, but their home form has certainly made up for that and has kept them clear of the relegation zone in the Championship.

Waghorn will be hoping he can add to his tally as the season progresses, starting with a goal when Derby are next in action against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Tuesday.
