Nottingham Forest slumped to a fourth successive defeat this afternoon as they lost out 2-o at Sheffield United.

Goals from Mark Duffy and Enda Stevens in the second half ensured the Blades kept their promotion push firmly on course, while for Forest, it means another summer of uncertainty and rebuilding, while the future of Martin O'Neill is already being questioned.

Some of the selections from O'Neill have left a lot of Reds fans baffled in all honesty, and there has been plenty of anger direct his way over the course of the season since he took the reins from Aitor Karanka.

One of the big players who the Irishman has been ignoring for first team selection is Portuguese attacking midfielder Joao Carvalho, who despite being a big money signing and showing signs of real class at times, has been overlooked by O'Neill and assistant Roy Keane.

Fans are calling for Carvalho to play, and it has to be said that he does deserve to get a start in the final three games if O'Neill has any sort of plan to give people in his squad a chance ahead of the summer.

Carvalho is the sort of player who can unlock the tightest of defences, and his omission from the first XI is in truth, baffling.

Forest have been playing in a defensive set-up that simply does not seem to suit them, and even the likes of Lewis Grabban cannot get a look in at the moment it would seem.

O'Neill is either trying to put his own stamp on proceedings at the City Ground, or he simply does not see what is right in front of him, but either way, it is causing plenty of discontent amongs the Reds fans.

Carvalho has to play, and if not, then a plan needs to be put in place to allow the club to move him on in the summer for a hefty fee.
