Marko Grujic has impressed for the Bluebirds in the centre of midfield since arriving from Liverpool on loan.

This is the first consistent run of games he has had since joining Liverpool from Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.

His skillset enables Cardiff to switch up their approach between and in games.

He is comfortable on the ball which enables the Bluebirds to put pressure on teams by controlling possession and flooding the opposition box with players in order to utilise their direct style of play.

Although he is also comfortable acting as a screen in front of the defence which allows the team to absorb pressure and break on opponents. His time at Cardiff will have certainly helped him to developed as well as impressing his manager Jurgen Klopp.

Here's what he had to say in the pre-match press conference: "As a young player, you don’t improve if you don’t play games regularly."

"The main reason I came here was to achieve and that’s getting promotion to the Premier League."

"The World Cup is one of the biggest events for all players, of course; it’ll be tough to get into the squad but I hope so."

The Verdict

Grujic is certainly rewarding Warnock's faith in him, but the fact that he is entrusting a key position to such a young player is a statement in itself.

Helping Cardiff get promoted could be enough to get him his ticket to the World Cup with Serbia. Regardless, he stands more chance of achieving that impressing on loan than acting as a back up with limited gametime at Liverpool.

His performances this season could allow him to seriously challenge for the defensive midfield role at Liverpool and continue his impressive progression.
