Nottingham Forest have started their season in a good way.

Six points from three league games and a win in the EFL Cup first round shows positive signs for the future.

Mark Warburton has had a busy transfer window so far bringing in eight new faces to the City Ground.

Considering their defensive record in the league last season was the second worst in the division, the lack of defensive players the club have bought in could be something Warburton lives to regret.

Forest conceded 72 league goals last season with only bottom of the table Rotherham conceding more so surely something has to change at the back for the former two-time European Champions.

Here at FLW, we think a great addition to the side would be Portsmouth’s Christian Burgess.

The 25-year-old played a huge role in Portsmouth’s title winning campaign last season and even made it into the PFA League Two team of the year for his efforts.

At six foot four, he is a towering man to have at the back and helped Portsmouth concede the least amount of goals in League Two last season.

He is a big fan favourite at his current club and is enjoying his football there right now but Nottingham could probably lure him away from Pompey.

Burgess is a proven centre-back at a decent level and would likely adapt quickly to life in the Championship and could help fix any defensive issues still at the club.

Warburton should really look into getting a few more fresh faces at the back to ensure that their poor defensive displays don’t continue into the new season.
