Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a solid, if inconsistent season thus far, with Mark Warburton’s men lying just five points away from a playoff spot.

Spells of excellent form have been undermined by a series of shoddy displays, and the former Brentford and Rangers boss will know that this issue must be addressed if the Reds are to break into the top-six this semester.

Forest have had no shortage of goals this season, and have already notched up 26 strikes from their opening 19 games.

However this is a stat the club will be keen to improve on, and Warburton may consider the winter transfer market in an attempt to add more goals to his side.

Forest already have a prolific goalscorer on their books in Notts County loanee Jorge Grant, who has scored 13 times in League Two this season.

However, Warburton has insisted that the youngster will see out the season with the Magpies.

“Jorge is benefitting from the loan and Notts County are benefitting from the loan and his performances,” he told The Nottingham Post.

“He would have to come back here and be better than all the other players in the squad.

“Do you bring a player back to let him sit on the bench, or do you let him play and develop?”

The Verdict

Grant is in wonderful form in the fourth tier, and is single handedly guiding his loan side to promotion this season.

Clubs at Championship level are reportedly keen on his signature, but Forest remain adamant he will stay with the Magpies until the end of the season.

Yet another bright talent on the books at Forest, Grant appears to have an excellent future, and Warburton will hope he returns in the summer ready to fight for a place in the first-team squad.
