Nottingham Forest have produced several quality players from their academy over the years and it appears they could have some more stars coming through.

Over the international period only four clubs had players represent England in the U17, U19 and U21 squads. They were Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest!

Arvin Appiah scored for the U17s whilst Ben Brereton and Joe Worrall featured in the two older age groups.

Reds boss Mark Warburton felt that this shows just how well the club are doing in producing their own talent. “It speaks volumes of the work being done in the academy; of the work of the players and the focus they have,” he told the Nottingham Post.

He also feels it's important that Forest capitalise on their good reputation in order to attract, and keep, the best prospects around.

It sends the right message out to players, to their families and to agents, of course, who have an even more powerful role to play. If we can show the agents that their clients will be well looked after, that there is no glass ceiling – but instead a pathway for them, then it sends out a very positive message indeed.”

The Verdict

Forest have made significant strides with their academy in recent years and are regularly producing capable players.

They sold Oliver Burke on for £15m and have a few that are already in and around the first-team.

As Warburton says, that only bodes well for the future and can be a key factor in helping young players to achieve their goals.
