Mark Warburton has stated that Jack Clarke will adapt to the level that his QPR side requires.

The winger joined from Tottenham on loan earlier in the window, and in his first start for the R's he failed to make any serious impact as QPR were knocked out of the FA Cup.

Clarke was at particular fault for the first goal conceded when he turned off from a throw-in that led to Sheffield Wednesday's Morgan Fox opening the scoring without any pressure on him.

Warburton has expressed that the midfielder has lots of talent, but he has no doubt that he'll come back stronger and be able to show his talent in the coming weeks.

Speaking to the Brent and Kilburn Times, Warburton said: "He's a £15 million player. He's a boy that's got to adapt to the level and there's no doubt he will do.

"You saw what he did for Leeds so he's a very talented player.

"He's bitterly disappointed at giving a goal away but again there's no doubt about his quality."

The Verdict

It was a really poor debut from Clarke, and he'll be particularly gutted about the way he was at fault for one of the goals that QPR conceded.

For a young player, it will have been a good learning phase for him and it's now about how he responds to that mistake. He has to make sure he comes back stronger.

We all saw last season that he's got an abundance of talent but he has to show it on a more regular basis.

It's no fluke that Tottenham spent big money on him, but if he's to become a superstar like he could well be then he has to start finding an ongoing consistency to his game.
